Abstract

Koilositosis merupakan perubahan sitopatologis khas akibat infeksi human papillomavirus (HPV) pada sel epitel skuamosa anogenital yang ditandai dengan pembesaran inti, vakuolisasi sitoplasma, dan batas inti yang tidak teratur. HPV merupakan virus deoxyribo nucleic acid (DNA) yang menyebabkan berbagai penyakit, mulai dari kutil anogenital hingga kanker serviks. Aktivitas protein onkogenik HPV, seperti E6 dan E7, memainkan peran penting dalam patogenesis koilositosis. Koilositosis sering ditemukan pada lesi prakanker, terutama cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). Deteksi koilositosis merupakan temuan sitopatologis penting, berfungsi sebagai petunjuk diagnosis infeksi HPV, penanda pada skrining kanker serviks, dan dasar strategi manajemen infeksi HPV. Diperlukan pengetahuan dasar terkait proses infeksi HPV serta nilai diagnostik dari temuan koilosit sehingga pemantauan dan pendekatan berbasis risiko dalam manajemen infeksi HPV untuk mencegah progresi lesi menjadi kanker invasif dapat terlaksana dengan baik.
